Norwegian rider Thor Hushovd fractured his collarbone out on a training ride in Italy on Sunday after colliding with a child, according to Cervélo TestTeam.

Hushovd, who was out with several other riders, fell after colliding with a young girl.

“I tried first of all to come to the aid of the young girl but I realized I couldn’t, that I had broken something. The girl is fine,” said last year’s Tour de France points winner.

Team medical official Andreas Goesele said, Hushovd, 32, would have surgery in Basel, Switzerland, on Monday.
