Julian David Arredondo (Nippo) held onto his overall lead at stage 6 of the Tour de Langkawi on Tuesday in Malaysia.
The Columbian rider finished the hilly stage, which featured three Category 4 climbs, safely in a large group that was 46 seconds behind stage winner Thomas Leezer (Blanco). Ji Min Jung (KSPO) was 27 seconds slower to take second, while Michal Golas (Omega Pharma-Quick Step) crossed the line 35 ticks behind in third.
Arredendo lost a few seconds off his GC advantage after the long day (218 kilometers) in the saddle, but he still holds a lead of 1:16 over Pieter Weening (Orica-GreenEdge). Sergio Pardilla (MTN-Qhubeka) is 2:10 behind in third.
Wednesday’s stage 7 is another bumpy route, with a pair of Cat. 4 climbs in the second half of the parcours. There are also three intermediate sprints along the 150km route.
The race ends Saturday.
