ALLÈGRE LES FUMADES (VN) — Bryan Coquard (Team Europcar) won stage 2 of Étoile de Bessèges on Thursday.

The 157km leg from Nîmes to Allègre les Fumades ended with Coquard taking a bunch sprint in 3:45:18 ahead of race leader Michael Van Staeyen (Topsport Vlaanderen-Baloise). Baptiste Plackaert (Crelan-Euphony) crossed third.

Van Staeyen retains the overall lead going into stage 3, a 152.6km race around Bessèges.

Coquard sits second overall at six seconds back with Frederique Robert (Lotto-Belisol) third at 10 seconds.
