Giro’s halter-top design simplifies bathroom breaks, so if you’re planning on being out all day, take a good look at these bibs. It’s not the perfect system but certainly makes life easier for on the go “need-to-gos.”
You don’t even have to unzip your jersey, although we found it much easier when we did. Simply pull the halter strap over your helmet and head for quick and easy nature breaks.
We expected some uncomfortable pressure from the halter strap but we were pleasantly surprised at the airy feel across the neck. A tall back panel wraps around to the front mesh base layer, providing support and structure for the halter strap. The whole system looks a bit funky without a jersey but functions seamlessly for a comfortable fit.
The bibs have a thicker chamois than we typically prefer but it was firm and held in place, no droopy feeling when climbing out of the saddle. The bulkier chamois was ideal for longer-distance rides where a little extra padding is nice after long hours on the bike.
The stretchy nylon leg panels offer a relaxed fit with little compression. Silicon leg grippers hold the bibs in place and keep them from riding up during hard efforts. The bands are narrow and the silicon can pull on the skin just a bit but our bibs didn’t move, even when sprinting out of the saddle.
