Masi’s Evoluzione is a surprisingly deft machine wrapped in a rather ungainly paintjob. Don’t be fooled: This bike can motor. Constructed from Masi’s MC-X TeXtreme carbon fiber, the Evoluzione is agile and stiff. In fact, its total deflection numbers are comparable to Cannondale’s SuperSix Evo. That’s great company. The Ultegra Di2 offers refined shifting to complement the precise handling. And for a bike this stiff and light, it’s quite comfortable. The Ritchey cockpit is understated and comfy; the DT Swiss wheels wrapped in Clement Strada LGG 25-millimeter tires are perfect for this workhorse machine that could just as easily be raced as ridden into the hills. A subtle nod to versatility comes with the Ultegra direct-mount dual pivot brakes, which will accommodate a bit more tire for those more adventurous excursions.
