In cycling, the pursuit of more speed is relentless, with every product, from bike components to apparel, getting analyzed to the nth degree in search of novel ways to cheat the wind. The MET Manta was already a speedy helmet, but for 2021 it has taken things up a notch, adding in a lower, tube-shaped profile in the back. Depending on conditions, the new version saves 3 to 4 watts over its predecessor, which was already an industry-leading lid. And despite how much of the helmet is closed off to let it slip through the wind, it manages to channel in high volumes of cooling air through the NACA vent atop the helmet and then exhaust it through the rear. If you need more reason to look at the Manta, safety is also enhanced in the latest version with the addition of Mips.
