Niels Albert (BKCP-Powerplus) won the Vlaamse Industrieprijs Bosduin on Sunday in Kalmthout.
The Belgian national champion stormed away from an elite lead group with just over two laps to go.
Going into the bell lap Bart Wellens (Telenet-Fidea) had likewise left the group behind and had closed to within eight seconds of Albert. Sven Nys (Landbouwkrediet) was out of the hunt, set afoot in a tight corner when another rider crashed in front of him.
Wellens, winner of round 2 of the U.S. Gran Prix of Cyclocross last Sunday in Wisconsin, came within eyeshot of Albert at one point on the winding, rolling circuit, but would get no closer. He held on for second place, 13 seconds behind Albert, as teammate Tom Meeusen outsprinted Francis Mourey (Fdj) for third.
Nys, meanwhile, trailed in sixth behind teammate Vincent Baestaens.
