QUEBEC CITY, Canada (VN) — For this weekend’s Grand Prix Cycliste de Québec, it only seems fitting that we profile a homegrown brand, a Canadian bike ridden by the only Canadian team in the race.

The 930-gram Argon 18 Galium Pro frame is a common sight in Québec City, with dozens of local club riders cruising around the Grand Prix course on the same red and white frame used by Team SpiderTech-C10. The frame includes the latest bells and whistles — BB30 bottom bracket (or standard BSA if you prefer), a massive 1.25-1.5” tapered head tube, chunky bottom bracket section and oversized asymmetrical chain stays.

SpiderTech’s Pat McCarty rides a size large frame with a 57.5 cm top tube. The team’s frames are built up with Shimano Dura-Ace components, wheels, cockpits and seatposts. McCarty ran a standard 53/39 crankset with an 11-25 Dura-Ace cassette to tackle the day’s short, steep climb.
