MALLORCA (AFP) — Sacha Modolo (Lampre-Merida) claimed victory on Sunday in the Trofeo Palma, the first day of the four-race Mallorca Challenge on Sunday.

After 10 laps of a 11.6km route around the island’s capital, Modolo took the win ahead of Jens Debusschere (Lotto-Belisol) and Dylan Groenewegen (De Rijke).

Sky’s Bradley Wiggins didn’t take part on Sunday, but the 2012 Tour de France winner is expected to get his season under way in the Trofeo Campos on Monday.
