Cunego to lead experienced Lampre team at Tour de France

PARIS (AFP) — Italian cycling team Lampre-Merida on Tuesday unveiled an experienced team for this year’s Tour de France, with an average age of 29.

Damiano Cunego, 31, who was sixth in the general classification at the 2011 Tour, will lead the team, which also includes 33-year-old Polish climber Przemyslaw Niemiec, who finished sixth in the Giro last month.

Adriano Malori, the winner of the Tour of Bavaria in May, was also selected.
