UAE Emirates-XRG made it seven stage wins Saturday at the Vuelta a España with Marc Soler winning atop La Farrapona after attacking out of the day’s main breakaway.
With two stage wins apiece from Jay Vine and Juan Ayuso, plus one from João Almeida as well as the team time trial, UAE has won more than 50 percent of the stages contested so far in the 2025 Vuelta (Wednesday’s stage at Bilbao was neutralized).
Soler also won the stage’s most combative prize.
There were no major shakeups in the GC as a strong headwind tamped down big moves. Jai Hindley (Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe) clawed back 10 seconds on Tom Pidcock as the Q36.5 Pro Cycling star clung onto third place.
Matthew Riccitello (Israel-Premier Tech) defended his spot on seventh, while Sepp Kuss bounced up to eighth, and Matteo Jorgenson nudged back into the top 10 in 10th.
Vingegaard widened his lead to 48 seconds to Almeida after winning the bonus sprint for second at the line.
Sergio Higuita (XDS-Astana) did not start and no one abandoned, leaving 157 riders in the Vuelta as the second week comes to a close Sunday.
