Luís León Sánchez nabbed his second victory in as many days today at the Tour de Romandie – but more importantly the Rabobank rider took over the leader’s jersey from Bradley Wiggins (Sky).

After a long chase on the final descent of the tour’s most mountainous stage – with three category 1 climbs and a cat 2 – Sánchez was able to regroup with the select group of about 40 riders at the front just in time for the run-in to the finish.

He out-powered the rest in the sprint by a bike length, taking a 10-second time bonus – enough to give him the overall lead.

He now leads Wiggins by nine seconds, and Michael Rogers also of Sky by 16 seconds, heading into tomorrow’s final stage, a 16.2 kilometer time trial.
