Tom Pidcock has been fulfilling his Red Bull sponsor obligations in the most high-speed fashion.

Red Bull this week released social reels of Pidcock claiming a 115kph (71mph) on-bike speed personal best while tethered to the back of a motorbike, and a full video of the Brit laying on a 100kph, 800w descending masterclass.

It’s just the latest cycling-based stunt by Red Bull, which is a personal sponsor of Pidcock, who rides with Q36.5 Pro Cycling.

The energy drink monolith also backs Wout van Aert, Blanka Vas, and has a controlling stake in team Red Bull Bora-Hansgrohe.

The Red Bull marketing machine recently had an F1 car doing “donuts” outside of the Roman Colosseum on the final stage of the Giro d’Italia, and partnered with Specialized for some stunt-buggy motorpacing on the Roubaix cobbles.

Pidcock separately teamed up with filmmaker Safa Brian for the viral video he filmed on California’s Tuna Canyon downhill in 2023.

The short clip posted by Red Bull this week shows Pidcock hitting 115kph while tied to the back of a motorbike driven by Red Bull’s former Dakar Rally champion Matthias Walkner.

The footage appears to be from the same location as that used for a longer video filmed by Pidcock and his over-energized extreme sports backer.

The five-minute YouTube production shows the 25-year-old cranking corners at 800 watts and super tucking straightaways at close to 100kph (62mph) while descending the sweeping Rossfeld Panorama on the Austrian-German border. Thankfully, he wasn’t tethered to a moto for this bit.

Staff at Q36.5 Pro Cycling were likely breathing a sigh of relief when they saw their multi-discipline megastar emerge from the session unscathed.

The Swiss team’s big-budget leader is slated to race the inaugural Andorra Morabanc Clàssic road race this weekend as part of his bounce between the Giro d’Italia and Vuelta a España.
