In a season in which the Tour of the Gila and the Tour of the Battenkill each were forced to abandon plans to upgrade to UCI registration, there is some good news on the domestic event front as the sixth annual Alexian Brothers Tour of Elk Grove has been upgraded to the UCI calendar.

The event is set for August 5-7 in Elk Grove Village, Illinois. The event has also added a women’s National Racing Calendar race.

The men’s race will hold a UCI 2.2-level designation.

The race  includes a 4.5 mile time trial, a 93-mile road race and a concluding circuit race.

“The Tour of Elk Grove has always been a top-level event, well-attended by domestic teams,” said USA Cycling’s Micah Rice. “It’s very exciting to see it join the growing roster of U.S.-based UCI races and attract Continental and Pro Continental teams as well.”
