After one year in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, USA Cycling has moved its professional road race national championships across the border to Knoxville, Tennessee.
“We are very fortunate to have the opportunity to run our most prestigious road cycling event in Knoxville next summer,” said USA Cycling CEO Derek Bouchard-Hall. “Knoxville’s love of cycling, natural beauty and renowned hospitality will make an exceptional location for us to crown our top professional road cyclists in just nine months!”
CyclingTips originally reported on the news that the road race and time trial events would go to a new venue for the coming year.
Additionally, the event’s dates have changed to June 23-25, which corresponds with the weekend when nearly all European countries hold their national championship events — just prior to the Tour de France.
The 2016 national champions in the time trial are: Taylor Phinney (BMC) and Carmen Small (Cylance). This year’s road race events were won by Greg Daniel (Axeon) and Megan Guarnier (Boels – Dolmans).
