BOULDER, Colo. (VN) — Rory Sutherland is set to lead his UnitedHealthcare squad into the Amgen Tour of California on Sunday May 15. The team on Friday announced its roster for the weeklong stage race that begins in South Lake Tahoe in a little over a week.
UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling has boosted its European pedigree with the signing of former Milram director sportif Vittorio Algeri to head the program’s operations on the continent. Thierry Attias, president of Momentum Sports Group, which owns the team, confirmed the hiring to VeloNews Tuesday night.

The Dutch rider wants to get back to Europe and continues negotiations with UnitedHealthcare-Maxxis
While they dominated U.S. racing for much of the last decade, UnitedHealthcare-Maxxis (known under variatious sponsors' names) has, since 2005, struggled to find a stage win in one of the country’s major stage races. The team will get another shot when they take the start of stage 1 at the Amgen Tour of California.
Whatever its name, the team variously known as HealthNet, HealthNet-Maxxis or OUCH-Maxxis has dominated the National Racing Calendar for the last six years.
