The 2011 USA CRITS series, which appeared to come to a premature end after the cancellation of Washington D.C.'s Capital Criterion, has bounced back with a new finale, to be held in Boston this weekend.
WASHINGTON, D.C. (VN) — Citing schedule conflicts, financial constraints and rider burnout, organizers of the Capital Criterium have canceled the October 2 event in Washington, D.C.. The race was scheduled to be the final stop of the 2011 USA Crits Championship Series.
BINGHAMPTON, NY — After 40 laps of racing at the 28th Annual Chris Thater Memorial, Theresa Cliff-Ryan (Colavita/Forno d'Asolo) won another USA CRITS event victory, her third of the five USA CRITS held so far this year. Erica Allar (RideClean p/b PatentIt.com) was able to finish on the podium for the fourth time (out of five tries) this year and remains in the orange USA CRITS Leader's Jersey.
The USA CRITS Championship Series is on the rise in 2011. The series will roll out in Athens, Georgia, in April and will include ten men’s and eight women’s events, up from eight and five a year ago, respectively. Isaac Howe (Mountain Khakis-Jittery Joe’s) and Erica Allar (Vera Bradley Foundation) won the series overall titles in 2010.
Mountain Khakis finishes five riders on the night and takes the second consecutive team title.

Athens, GA – The USA CRITS Speed Week Series begins in Athens on April 24 and showcases bicycle racing in three states ending up in Sandy Springs, Georgia on May 2. This year’s series will host the best criterium racers in the world with a solid line up of USA CRITS Division 1 Teams in attendance.
The 2010 USA CRITS Championship series has new final races for both men and women. The women’s series will conclude at the Chris Thater Memorial race, after four races. The men’s competition will conclude at the TX Tough Grand Prix, after eight events. The series is now nine events strong, visiting as many states.
