The 2011 USA CRITS series, which appeared to come to a premature end after the cancellation of Washington D.C.'s Capital Criterion, has bounced back with a new finale, to be held in Boston this weekend.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (VN) — Citing schedule conflicts, financial constraints and rider burnout, organizers of the Capital Criterium have canceled the October 2 event in Washington, D.C.. The race was scheduled to be the final stop of the 2011 USA Crits Championship Series.

BINGHAMPTON, NY — After 40 laps of racing at the 28th Annual Chris Thater Memorial, Theresa Cliff-Ryan (Colavita/Forno d'Asolo) won another USA CRITS event victory, her third of the five USA CRITS held so far this year. Erica Allar (RideClean p/b PatentIt.com) was able to finish on the podium for the fourth time (out of five tries) this year and remains in the orange USA CRITS Leader's Jersey.

The USA CRITS Championship Series is on the rise in 2011. The series will roll out in Athens, Georgia, in April and will include ten men’s and eight women’s events, up from eight and five a year ago, respectively. Isaac Howe (Mountain Khakis-Jittery Joe’s) and Erica Allar (Vera Bradley Foundation) won the series overall titles in 2010.

Mountain Khakis finishes five riders on the night and takes the second consecutive team title.

USA Crits series action continues Sunday with the men's event.

Rahsaan Bahati (Bahati Foundation), Jacquelyn Crowell (Team Type 1), James Stemper (Kenda-GEARGRINDER) and Erica Allar (Vera Bradley Foundation) each took criterium wins over the weekend as the Tour of America's Dairyland pushed through its first weekend.

Athens, GA – The USA CRITS Speed Week Series begins in Athens on April 24 and showcases bicycle racing in three states ending up in Sandy Springs, Georgia on May 2. This year’s series will host the best criterium racers in the world with a solid line up of USA CRITS Division 1 Teams in attendance.

The 2010 USA CRITS Championship series has new final races for both men and women. The women’s series will conclude at the Chris Thater Memorial race, after four races. The men’s competition will conclude at the TX Tough Grand Prix, after eight events. The series is now nine events strong, visiting as many states.

The Spartanburg Regional Classic, held in Spartanbrug, South Carolina, is the fifth stop in the USA Crits Speedweek race series.

The TX Tough Grand Prix serves as the USA CRITS men's series finale, where the pro mens field will race for $25,000 in cash and primes. The TX Tough GP benefits the Children's Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.

The Chris Thater Memorial race is an event weekend that host a 5K run and pro, elite and novice crit races. The race will be held in Binghamton, NY, and will serve as the USA CRITS Women's final event in 2010.

The Boise Twilight Crit (aka the Well Fargo Crit) began in 1987 as a way to attract cyclists and pump up business in downtown Boise. Today, top teams compete for $20,000 in cash and prizes on the four-corner Boise course.

The 50-mile twilight crit in downtown Charlotte, North Carolina, paid out $13,000 to 2009 winner David Veilleux. The dog-bone shaped course is 1.3 miles long with two long straight-aways that makes the Presbyterian crit a great spectators event.

The Capital Criterium follows part of the presidential inauguration route with the startt/finish area on Pennsylvania Avenue.

The intersection of Gay and High Streets in West Chester, Pennsylvania, serves as the start for the Iron Hill Twilight crit. The brewery of the same name sponsors this four-corner crit held in historic downtown West Chester.

The Hyde Park Blast is another twilight crit in the USA CRITS series. Held in Hyde Park, Ohio, the Blast is the middle event of a weekend of crit racing.

The Athens Twilight crit is an 80-km race around historic downtown Athens, Georgia. This is the first stop of the USA CRITS series and has a purse of $120,000 for the men's and women's fields.

As the third day of the Tour of America's Dairyland, the Giro d'Grafton twilight crit is 6-corner race in the heart of Grafton, Wisconsin.

The Dilworth Criterium, held in Charlotte, North Carolina, is the sixth stop on the USA Crits Speedweek race series.

The Downtown Walterboro Criterium, held in Walterboro, South Carolina, is the fourth stop of the USA Crits Speedweek race series.

The Global BMW Sandy Springs Cycling Challenge, held in Sandy Springs, Georgia, is the seventh and final stop of the USA Crits Speedweek race series.

The Beaufort Memorial Cycling Classic, held in Beaufort, South Carolina, is the third stop of the USA Crits Speedweek race series.

The Historic Roswell Criterium, held in Roswell, Georgia, is the second stop for the USA Crits Speedweek race series.

The Terrapin Twilight crit, held in Athens, Georgia, is the first race in the USA Crits Speedweek series.
