Stage 3: Nice to Sisteron
Stage 3 race report: Ewan rockets to the win
Caleb Ewan (Lotto-Soudal) navigated through traffic — around Peter Sagan (Bora-Hansgrohe) and Sam Bennett (Deceuninck-Quick-Step) — to win stage 3 of the 2020 Tour de France.
The pint-size sprint specialist known as the “Pocket Rocket” came from mid-field, through a dozen riders, into an uphill headwind, to take the day.

Stage 3 preview
Course: Normally this would be considered a hilly stage, as the route includes 2,550 meters of climbing (8,366 feet), but for this mountainous Tour, this stage is considered a flat route for the sprinters. Expect a bunch kick in the stunning village of Sisteron, long known as the “Gateway to Provence.” This stage is one for the views, as the route passes through France’s picturesque Préalps d’Azur National Park.
Favorites: Caleb Ewan, Elia Viviani, André Greipel, Giacomo Nizzolo

Jens Voigt’s take: Probably just a normal stage, with an early breakaway that has little chance of surviving, followed by a sprint royale in Sisteron. It should be a cool sight, as the Citadelle de Sisteron is close to the finish. I expect some spectacular helicopter shots. Wind should not be a factor, so this is probably a relatively relaxing day for the Tour. I‘ll go with Elia Viviani today .
