With 11-32 SRAM cassettes already winning on the biggest stages in cycling SRAM figured it was time RED cassettes got wider to, 11-30 and 11-32 to be specific. Alberto Contador has been using an 11-32 cassette combined with an mid cage RED22 derailleur and a 53/39 crankset for almost all his races, not just those featuring steep climbing. Alberto likes the WiFLi rear because he can stay in his big ring on more climbs and be ready for the roll over the top and the high-speed descent instantly. He won the 2012 Vuelta with a 10speed 11-32 cassette and the 2014 Tirreno Adriatico with an 11speed 11-32 SRAM cassette.
With these new RED versions of the 11-32 and 11-30 RED cassettes SRAM has taken both combinations below 200grams, 196 and 185grams respectively. It adds well known RED22 features to the new WiFLi cassettes – PowerdomeX for reduced weight and added stiffness, X-Glide for smooth shifts under high power and StealthRing Technology for quiet operation. The full range of each is: 11-12-13-14-15-17-19-21-24-27-30 and 11-12-13-14-15-17-19-22-25-28-32.
Look for these new RED cassettes to be available this summer at a cost of $374. They are compatible with Force and RED mid-cage 11speed derailleurs.
