Southeastern conference racing resumed this weekend in Huntsville, Alabama, as the University of Alabama in Huntsville Chargers hosted the regular season finale. This would be the final opportunity for teams and individuals seeking to cement a bid to Nationals before competing for double points at the Conference Championships next weekend in Mars Hill.
On Saturday and Sunday, April 10th and 11th, collegiate teams from the WCCC competed in the Golden Acorn Road Race and the Huennekens St. Criterium, hosted by the San Diego Cyclovets in conjunction with the budding CSU San Marcos Cycling Team.

Supporters of the Tour of Missouri are lobbying the state legislature, governor and public to restore state funding for the three-year-old race. Missouri like many states is facing a budget crisis. In Missouri's case Gov. Jay Nixon announced earlier this month that $500 million needs to be cut from this year's budget because of lower-than-expected tax revenue. The state's tourism department, which had been providing the bulk of the support for the race — some $5 million over the three editions — has not included the race in its next budget.
