The French police that have been assigned to this Tour have been the most professional staff I've ever encountered. They've done a superb job of keeping the roads safe, waving flags around all hazards, and guding the whole race caravan smoothly throughout the country. The last two days’ races have proved to be the toughest of my entire shortcareer so far. I came very close to throwing in the towel todayand hopping in the team car.
